This 18th-century barn was redesigned to restore proportion and soul, drawing on the calm symmetry of Georgian architecture and the timeless clarity of Roman design in a nod to the area’s classical past.

Contrast between rustic and refined brings depth and richness, while still feeling relaxed and comfortable: raw beams meet finely panelled walls; rich colours soften against neutrals. Reclaimed oak floors, salvaged from agricultural buildings, quietly honour the barn’s origins. Materials including honed marbles, soft linens, and velvets were chosen for their tactility and ability to build patina, contributing to the home’s layered, timeless character. Antique furniture and salvaged architectural elements add story and substance.

The result is a home shaped by contrast, history, and touch, rich in atmosphere and deeply attuned to its setting.
