Berkeley Hawkes is a London and Cotswolds-based interior design studio founded by mother-and-daughter duo Laura and Gracy Berkeley-Hawkes. Rooted in a shared love of architecture, history, and atmosphere, their work is dedicated to creating beautiful homes that feel grounding, sensual, and quietly alive.
Laura spent over a decade designing, renovating, and running some of London’s most sought-after location houses for film, photography, and editorial. Gracy grew up immersed in this world, absorbing the process, developing a deep-rooted instinct for design, and a natural curiosity that evolved into expertise. Their partnership is intuitive and balanced, grounded in mutual trust and a shared, enduring passion. Each brings distinct strengths, but their design vision is entirely unified.
Each project begins with a deep respect for the building itself: its proportions, period, and natural light. The result is a design language that balances history with harmony, bringing emotional resonance to every space.
A key feature of their work is the integration of different periods and styles. Pieces are chosen for their presence and given room to breathe, allowing them to be fully appreciated. Natural and reclaimed materials are selected for their tactility, sustainability, and ability to age beautifully. There is always a quiet tension at play: rustic meets refined, old meets new, creating a contrast that brings both richness and ease.
Laura and Gracy are closely involved from the earliest stages through to completion. They shape layouts and lighting, design bespoke joinery and soft furnishings, and curate furniture and materials with care. Working with trusted craftspeople and local workshops, they oversee the build with sensitivity and precision, ensuring continuity from concept to completion.
